John M. Church, Chief Executive Officer

Background covers over 30 years of investment banking experience in the asset backed loan industry. In his current role at Waterstone Asset Management, John is responsible for building and managing WCA’s asset management and servicing business. Prior to Waterstone, John was a Managing Director at Wachovia Securities where he created and managed the CMBS loan servicing group into an industry leading platform growing net revenues to over $100 million. Over his career, he has started five institutional asset management platforms providing superior returns on invested capital and operating businesses. He has established strong relationships within the mortgage banking industry, capital markets and rating agencies. He holds a business degree from Indiana University at Bloomington Indiana and a Masters Degree in Real Estate Management from Webster University in St. Louis Missouri. He also has earned his Certified Mortgage Bankers (CMB) designation.

Mike Schoenstein, Principal

Mr. Schoenstein is a principal of Waterstone Capital Advisors. Mr. Schoenstein brings an extensive background in the commercial mortgage loan industry spanning 20 years. Mike has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the various requirements and parties involved with CMBS mortgages.

Prior to Waterstone, Mike worked at Wachovia Securities where he managed teams involved in asset and portfolio management of CMBS portfolios. Prior to Wachovia Mike worked at GE Capital where he was involved with managing and liquidating defaulted RTC portfolios. He holds a Finance degree from the University of Texas at Tyler.

George Rodriguez, Principal

Mr. Rodriguez is a principal of Waterstone Capital Advisors, with a primary role of managing the securities administration process. Mr. Rodriguez brings a broad background over 21 years of financial markets experience. George has extensive experience in the areas of securities processing for both equity and fixed income trading. He has worked for major securities firms such as Salomon Brothers, Wachovia Securities, and Accenture where he provided technical consulting expertise to top global clients. He holds an MIS degree from Bernard Baruch College in NYC.

Dennis McCloskey, Managing Director

Mr. McCloskey has over 30 years of commercial real estate experience including land development, mortgage lending, syndications, fixed income investments, investment banking and CMBS servicing; specializing in problem asset management with Citicorp and Wachovia. His management roles included corporate finance, servicing rights acquisitions, special servicing and portfolio management. Most recently Mr. McCloskey has worked for the FDIC providing asset management and disposition strategies for banks in receivership. He holds an undergraduate degree in Finance and an MBA in Real Estate, both from Ohio State University.

Tom Murphy, Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Murphy is the Chief Operating Officer of Waterstone Asset Management responsible for Waterstone’s servicing operations. Prior to joining Waterstone Mr. Murphy was the Head of Information Management for Wachovia’s Real Estate Services Group which consisted of CMBS Primary, Master, Special Servicing and Affordable Housing Equity Investment business lines. Mr. Murphy has over 20 years of diverse business experience in finance, capital markets, operations and risk management. He holds an undergraduate degree in Finance from Canisius College at Buffalo, an MBA from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and is a certified Project Management Professional.

Eileen Taylor, General Counsel

Eileen Taylor is general counsel to Waterstone Capital Advisors, and serves to manage the Company’s legal affairs. Ms. Taylor has practiced law in the corporate, corporate finance, and asset backed and commercial mortgage backed securities area for 22 years. Her broad base of experience well-qualifies her to address the Company’s legal needs. Ms. Taylor has previously been a partner in Kilpatrick Stockton, LLP and Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw, LLP. She received her undergraduate degree from Vassar College and her law degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Steve Hall, Managing Director

Mr. Hall has over 25 years of experience in residential and commercial real estate finance, with a focus on corporate and wholesale financing solutions for financial institutions, REITs, mortgage bankers, specialty finance companies and hedge funds. Prior to joining Waterstone, Steve worked for financial institutions including Wachovia, Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae and BBVA Compass Bank.

Steve has direct experience with wholesale mortgage lending and secondary markets, property level underwriting of multi-family, residential, commercial and construction loans, structured financings, securitization, servicing and asset management. He holds a BBA from the University of Mississippi, and is a Series 7 and 63 Registered Representative.

Bryant Mende, Managing Director

Mr. Mende has over 25 years of experience in real estate finance, asset management and real estate investment banking/loan production. Prior to joining Waterstone, Bryant has managed profit centers in loan advisory/debt placement for several private firms and large financial institutions including Bank of America, First Union (Wachovia) and M&T Bank. Bryant has in-depth experience with numerous capital sources including life insurance companies, large banks and investment banks, either as an intermediary or direct lender. He holds an undergraduate BS and an MBA, both from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.

Ron Rossi, Managing Director

Extensive background spanning 15 years in the commercial real estate and banking industry.  Experience with all aspects of asset and portfolio management, acquisitions, dispositions as well as workout and restructuring of real estate investments.  Formed successful commercial real estate consulting firm in 2005.  The firm provided business process outsourcing capabilities to financial institutions and real estate investors.  The firms’ largest client was Wachovia, by whom they were provided access to work directly on their network servers.  Focus at the firm over the last 2 years has been to provide support to the Special Assets Group within banks to provide the analysis needed to determine buy, sell and/or hold strategies.  Engagements also included asset management and workout for assets in pre-foreclosure stages as well as REO and receivership.  He has led multiple assignments throughout the US to provide evaluations of CRE bank portfolios for both public and private clients.  He holds a BA in Business Administration from the University of California – Irvine, and has active NC Real Estate Broker and Broker In Charge licenses.

Ron Dove, Commercial Asset Manager

Mr. Dove’s professional career spans over twenty years in financial services, credit, and capital markets and includes hands–on experience in sales management, operations , infrastructure development credit oversight and asset dispositions. Mr. Dove was part of Waterstone Capital’s defeasance team and has held senior positions in a number of Fortune 1000 companies. Ron graduated from Dartmouth College with a B.A. in economics and pursued post graduate studies for his MBA at McGill University.

Carol Gilbert, Asset Manager

Ms. Gilbert joined Waterstone in July 2005 and has been active in various areas which include sales and marketing and successor borrower management as well as management of the CMBS defeasance group. She has 25 plus years experience in sales and business management. Her current assignments include the disposition of foreclosed assets and management of defaulted loans, debt evaluation, and borrower advisory services.

Brant Stewart, Asset Manager

Brant joined Waterstone in May 2009 and works with the management of defaulted loans, debt evaluation, and Borrower advisory services. Prior to joining Waterstone, he worked at Centerline Capital Group (formerly ARCap REIT, Inc.) in the Portfolio Management department, where he oversaw the management of a CMBS portfolio. In this role, he was involved largely with the identification of risk and workout of defaulted loans, as well as the asset level due diligence of secondary market purchases. Brant holds an Economics degree from Baylor University.

Mr. McDonald is the Accounting Manager and IT Manager at Waterstone Capital Advisors. Prior to joining Waterstone Mr. McDonald worked in the Accounting Department of Wachovia’s Real Estate Services Group. Mr. McDonald also served as the Controller of the United Way of Gaston County. Mr. McDonald has over 20 years experience in Accounting and IT Management. Adam Hensley, Analyst

Adam joined Waterstone in July 2009, shortly after graduating from college. He is a member of the asset management team, where he analyzes loans in default and works closely with the finances of commercial properties. While attending school, he worked as an investment analyst at Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, and was heavily involved with asset allocation modeling and portfolio updating. Adam holds degrees in Finance and Economics from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina.
